PENGENALAN JARINGAN
A. Latar Belakang dan Sejarah Jaringan
Pada tahun 1940 an, di Amerika ada sebuah penelitian yang memanfaatkan sebuah perangkat komputer secara bersama-sama. Hal ini terus berkembang hingga tahun 1950 an. Jenis-jenis kompuer mulai bervariasi sampai terciptanya super komputer karena mahalnya harga perangkat komputer, ada tuntutan bahwa sebuah komputer harus mampu melayani beberapa terminal. Tuntutan inilah yang mendasari konsep distribusi proses berdasarkan waktu dikenal dengan nama TTS (Time Sharing System). Bentuk aplikasi pertama kali sebuah jaringan (Network) komputer. Pada sistem TSS beberapa terminal terhubung secara seri kesebuah komputer host, selanjutnya konsep ini berkembang menjadi proses distribusi (Distributed Processing).
